JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Companion Aide assists in assuring a patient is safe when patients are at risk of harming themselves by pulling lines, falling, wandering, and other behaviors. The Companion Aide is responsible for continious monitoring of the patient at all times. May intervene by assisting the patient to toilet, ambulate, reposition and giving food/fluids if approved by the assigned nurse. Observes fro harmful or dangerous action/behaviors of the patient such as sudden rapid breathing, restlessness, aggressivness, and /or attempting to get out of bed. Seek immediate assistance from the health care team to secure patient safety. conversation interaction is essential between companion and patient. Minimal patient physical contact is required.
The following is essential for this position:
Available to work as scheduled and report to work on time.
Work overtime if needed.
Be well groomed and dressed appropriately for your role.
Demonstrate a willingness to learn
Be able to communicate clearly, think clearly and concentrate on assigned tasks.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED
Adapt to floating to different units
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association
Evidence of current enrollment in an accredited school of Nursing, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, or a related healthcare field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Current Colorado Certified Nurse Assistant licensure
Minimum 1 year work experience as a CNA
